So I finally got around to painting and attaching the tongue to the body base. I did a primer coat with an acrylic primer white. This acted as the base white for the model. I then drew the body parts on with pencil and then painted the details in acrylic. I outlined the details in sharpie red and black to define them. Next step is to lacquer the model with a vanish. I’m thinking a matt vanish will work best
